Field of Dreams

Field of Dreams

When you’re the last one standing
will you rise or fall?
Will you sell your saddle
or sit up in it tall?

These times are getting wild
and wooly you might say,
more folks you meet keep their hat
but have no livestock out to graze.

Instead of crops growing on your right,
and cattle raising on your left,
there’s real estate signs rising rampant
as the sadness in your chest.

That field of dreams has disappeared,
it’s glory taken for granted-
Tradition is only as strong
as the truth that has been planted.

let your self sing:

Praise the Lord oh my soul
Wherever I May go-
You’re with me inside green pastures

And as the cattle are all still
I thank you for your will
That I am alive in this gladness

So me my horse will ride to
Gather more inside
A field of dreams where all peace happens

Ask your neighbor where’d you go?
He said, “it got too hard”
Big man wrote him a check,
Scaled down n bought a car

Well the leather of your saddle and the leather in his Benz
will have two different types of stories
Of where that dream field ends

Both cows grazed in the very place
there’s new construction on
But one will never hear the peace
of a simple cowgirls song:

Praise the Lord oh my soul
Wherever I May go-
You’re with me inside green pastures

And as the cattle are all still
I thank you for your will
That I am alive in this gladness

But that guys leather can’t deny
the only place he’ll ride
Is inside the traffic he sits trapped in

The lifestyle of the west
is not just freedom and the glow
It’s paired in part with telling truth
to everyone you know

Why the way you live is worth it
As a callous when it’s hard,
sharing how Jesus’ death
leaves somehow only scars

Why the way you live is wonderful
As a fuzzy newborn colt
showing how Gods love forgives and
Leaves behind what’s old

Why the way you live is wild
As the whippin’ Texas wind
Leading by the spirits power to
breathe and start again

you can’t help but hum:

Praise the Lord oh my soul
Wherever I May go-
You’re with me inside green pastures

And as the cattle are all still
I thank you for your will
That I am alive in this gladness

So me my horse will ride to
Gather more inside
A field of dreams where all peace happens

So if that’s you, the chosen few
who’s made your mind up to stay
don’t back down and don’t bow out
even if the skies turn gray

That Field of dreams may get sold
In some “for sale” endeavor
But the folks you tell about the Lord
you’ll roam pasture with forever.

When your the last one standing
Since you rose and didn’t fall
You’ll have a well worn saddle
And a “well done” from your boss.

as you ride out, sing to the field your song:

So me my horse will ride
forever by and by
A field of dreams where all peace happens

Coming to a county road near you…

I wrote the poem Field of Dreams in reflection of the disappointment I feel when I drive past another ghastly FOR SALE billboard on prime pasture land in Parker County – the horse capital of the world.

The art piece is a concept I had commissioned with an AI art application I have on a computer program. Occasionally, I’ll commission work from a real live artist but in this circumstance I felt time was of the essence and my post was eager to get out in the wild.

As someone who moved out of the city to start a life in the ag/equine business I have pretty big feelings about seeing land owners succumb to a price tag insteasd of protecting tradition. Here’s my two cense…even though the penny seems to be on the way out too…

Don’t sell the legacy that God gave you to grow. I think this is what He sayin in Isaiah 43 + 44 to us : Fear not, I’ve redeemed you, Ive called you by name, you are mine. Nothing will overwhelm or consume you. I’m the Lord your Savior who I gave everything for because you are precious to me and I love you.

I’m your help, don’t be afraid , I will gather you that I made for my glory. Bring more people who have faith in Me, bring them from everywhere – I know every persons testimony. I’m the one who made you and will save you by miraculous ways. Despite what you’ve done, I’ve chosen you before you’ve done it.

What are you so afraid of? I’m faithful to pour out what you need, on what needs it. My people will begin to spring up like grass, trees and streams, they all have my beauty in them. Don’t put me beside anyone, no one is like me because I wrote the beginning and the end.

I am the rock that shames idols. I am able to deliver you from futile efforts and man made solutions, I am your redeemer. Can you see your spotless now because of me? Your sins disappeared like mist, now come back here. Praise me because I’ve done everything you’ve needed and more.

Look at this field of dreams – who could create this but me? And you think you can dream with out me? I’m your shepherd, you shall be established and built in my name.

Let’s take it to heart and action…
Praise God in Jesus name amen.

Disturbing Stats

Yes…we all think ‘It can’t happen here’ this is “TEXAS”. But is can and it IS. Google says what my eyes are seeing: Productive agricultural land vanishes at a rate of roughly 40 acres an hour, converted into suburban housing, warehouses, and infrastructure.

And if that wasn’t intimidating enough;

The U.S. is at the lowest number of farms it has been at in over a century.

One final stat to leave you stunned is:

The U.S. loses 1+% of farm land each year. You can probably do the math from there…

Utilize your resources

What are we teaching and preparing our youth for with 4H, FFA, USDA, Farm Bureau? Why is it crickets after State Fair and Stock Show season? Why are farmers caving to data centers instead of collaborating with this organizations to sustain the little farmland we have left. If we don’t want to loose more resources, we have to USE THEM.

Pressure now, regret later

Many of us complain about being tired or weary-hearted in what we are facing; but now is not the time to avoid the inevitable. God says in Galatians 6:9 Don’t grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.  To me, the staggering stats of loss looks a lot like giving up, selfishness, laziness, entitlement, and complacency. If we don’t get creative and hopeful under pressure we will become another stat held in the digital silo of a lifeless data center, on a county road near you.
